Retreat Day #4

14 January 2013

We had two retreat talks this morning and then the retreat officially ended and Peter Phan headed for Bangkok and Washington, D.C. The rest of the group had the afternoon off to prepare for meetings.

Luise Ahrens and John Beeching
As we moved into the last half of our time in Hua Hin, Luise Ahrens and John Beeching worked on receipts for various expenses.
Fr. Peter Phan
Fr. Peter Phan gave his last two talks today. He has been especially good for our group. He has innovative and challenging ideas about theology and its place in the church and he also tailored his thoughts to the group as a gathering of missioners.
Fr. Peter Phan and Rodrigo Ullao
Someone presented Peter with a squawking rubber chicken before the talks and he liked the chicken and took it with him. He was also given several other gifts in appreciation for his work and time with us. Rodrigo Ullao was part of the presentation.
Dr. Kitani and Joe Thaler
We took a group photo--much easier this year because smaller numbers allowed us to take it inside, and then it was time to say goodbye to some of our group. Dr. Nanan Kitani, a Japanese professor who is developing a theology of migration, was with us these first four days. She was a very interesting and welcome addition to our group.
Singing at mass
Again we had liturgy at the end of the morning.
PCLM dancers
In the evening we had a talent show. A really good number of people signed up for various acts and presentations, and it was enjoyable. One of the more lively numbers was a "missionary dance" performed by the members of the PCLM, Philippines Catholic Lay Mission movement.
Paul Masson, Rodrigo Ullao, Steve
Paul Masson, Rodrigo Ullao, and Steve contributed their musical talents several times during the evening.
